Airtel Expands Full 5G Network Coverage Across All Districts in West Bengal

Bharti Airtel has proudly announced the comprehensive coverage of its 5G network across all 23 districts of West Bengal within an impressive 12 months since the launch of its services. The telecom giant has successfully amassed a robust customer base, exceeding 1.6 million unique 5G subscribers in the state within the first year of introducing Airtel 5G Plus. Specifically spotlighting West Bengal, Airtel has diligently expanded its network infrastructure, ensuring that its advanced 5G services are accessible throughout every district in the region.

From the serene tea plantations of Darjeeling and the hills of Kalimpong to the historic town of Chandannagar, Airtel’s accelerated 5G rollout has reached various corners of West Bengal. Notably, Airtel has also extended its 5G connectivity to prominent landmarks such as Eden Gardens, India’s oldest and second-largest cricket stadium, and the terracotta hub of Bishnupur, integrating these iconic sites into the 5G digital landscape.

Expressing delight in achieving this 5G milestone in West Bengal, Bharti Airtel acknowledged its pioneering role as the first telecom company to deploy high-speed 5G technology in the state. Grateful for the enthusiastic response from its 1.6 million customers embracing the Airtel 5G Plus network, the company emphasized its commitment to setting industry benchmarks through substantial growth in 5G customers. The extensive 5G landscape in West Bengal boasts the state’s widest, fastest, and most reliable network, covering all 23 districts.

During a recent earnings call, Gopal Vittal, CEO of Bharti Airtel, underscored the company’s impressive milestone of having over 55 million unique 5G customers on its network. Airtel’s strategic deployment of approximately 30,000 sites aims to extend coverage to around 60,000 villages across India. Vittal emphasized that Airtel prioritizes providing the best coverage and user experience rather than engaging in a race for the largest or fastest 5G rollout. Airtel has successfully introduced 5G services to over 5,000 towns and 20,000 villages in India, with plans to achieve nationwide coverage by March 2024. Additionally, the company is gearing up to launch satellite services in India in the near future.
