Summary:
Techno Digital has launched its Mumbai edge data centre in collaboration with RailTel, aiming to deliver enterprise-grade reliability with Rated-III infrastructure standards. Located close to Mumbai’s major financial hubs, the facility is designed to provide ultra-low latency connectivity for real-time applications, including less than 150 microseconds from the BSE and under 250 microseconds from the NSE. The company said the data centre will also benefit from proximity to Mumbai’s cable landing stations and RailTel’s nationwide 63,000 km fibre network to enhance both global and domestic connectivity performance. Techno Digital and RailTel further plan to expand their edge data centre network to over 100 cities across India over the next few years.
Techno Digital has operationalised its Mumbai-based edge data centre (EDC) in partnership with RailTel. The company stated that the facility has been developed according to Rated-III infrastructure specifications, offering enterprise-level reliability through an efficient and optimised infrastructure setup.
According to the company, the new facility aims to solve a major challenge faced by businesses operating in Mumbai’s financial districts by positioning infrastructure closer to mission-critical locations. The edge data centre is expected to provide latency below 150 microseconds from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in Nariman Point/Fort and under 250 microseconds from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), supporting faster response times for real-time applications.
The company also noted that the facility’s close proximity to Mumbai’s cable landing stations will help improve high-speed international connectivity while sustaining low-latency domestic network performance.
Additionally, the data centre will utilise RailTel’s nationwide fibre backbone covering more than 63,000 kilometres across India.
Techno Digital and RailTel further announced plans to jointly establish a distributed edge data centre network spanning over 100 Indian cities. Following the Mumbai deployment, the company plans to introduce five additional edge locations in the near future, with a long-term target of expanding to 102 locations over the next three to four years.
