Adani Group is set to strengthen its position in India’s data centre sector after High Density Data Centre Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Infra (India) Limited, secured approval from the Odisha government to establish an integrated data centre park involving an investment of Rs 1.04 trillion.
The project received clearance from the high-level clearance authority and will comprise a 1 gigawatt (GW) data centre facility located across approximately 250 acres at Naraj near Cuttack. The development is expected to create around 1,000 employment opportunities.
In addition to the Adani Group project, the state government cleared three other projects focused on data centres and artificial intelligence, together involving investments of Rs 383.91 billion. With these approvals, the combined investment across all four projects stands at approximately Rs 1.42 trillion.
The approved projects include an AI-focused data centre in Khordha, backed by an investment of Rs 142.57 billion from HCLTech in collaboration with Sarvam AI. Sentraforge AI, a joint venture between Megha Engineering and Infrastructures and GVPR Engineers, will establish a Rs 226.34 billion sovereign AI campus and global capability centre in Puri. Meanwhile, RKD Construction will develop a data centre in Cuttack district with an investment of Rs 15 billion.
