Mobile network services are now active at Navi Mumbai Airport

Summary:
Airtel’s network is now fully active at Navi Mumbai International Airport, with Jio expected to launch its services shortly after addressing some coverage gaps. Adani Airport CEO Arun Bansal praised Airtel for providing strong in-building connectivity. Both companies are also setting up their in-building solutions ahead of Noida International Airport’s March 28 inauguration. These updates resolve right-of-way disputes at major Indian airports, following the Department of Telecommunications’ directive to treat airports as public entities and allow telecom infrastructure installation.

According to sources, Airtel’s network is now fully operational at Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd, while Jio Infocomm is expected to roll out its services in the coming days.

On Friday, Adani Airport CEO Arun Bansal confirmed the availability of Airtel’s services through a LinkedIn post, stating, “Finally, excellent in-building coverage at Navi Mumbai airport by a leading mobile operator. Thanks to Airtel for delivering a great consumer experience.”

Meanwhile, Jio is also likely to activate its network soon, with sources indicating that the company is currently working to resolve a few coverage gaps within the airport premises. Both telecom providers are also preparing their in-building solutions (IBS) ahead of the inauguration of Noida International Airport on March 28.

These developments mark the resolution of right-of-way (RoW) disputes at two of India’s major airports, where airport authorities had maintained that mobile network infrastructure had already been procured and installed following multiple discussions with telecom operators.

However, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) classified airports as “public entities” and instructed them to permit telecom companies to install their network infrastructure.
