Amazon Web Services (AWS) intends to invest $429.8 million to develop a data centre near Taloja in Navi Mumbai. Earlier this month, the company submitted an application to the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority seeking environmental clearance for the project, which is proposed on a 49-acre site.

The project includes plans to build six structures on the land. Four of these will be seven-storey buildings designated as data centres, while the other two will be two-storey facilities supporting power and water infrastructure. Together, the data centres are expected to deliver a total capacity of 473 megawatts.

The land near Taloja lies within the limits of Asode and Burdul villages. AWS acquired this plot in late 2024 from Macrotech Developers for Rs 4.50 billion ($48.35 million). Additionally, in December 2024, the company purchased 38.18 acres of land from Lodha in Palava, near Navi Mumbai.
