Airtel, Jio, and Starlink by Elon Musk Enter the Satellite Broadband Race in India

This follows the government’s decision to administratively allocate spectrum and incorporate it into the new telecom bill. Key players in this space include Bharti Group-backed OneWeb, Reliance’s Jio Satellite Communications, and Elon Musk’s Starlink, all holding global mobile personal communication by satellite (GMPCS) licenses.

SES, the global joint venture partner of Reliance’s Jio Satellite Communications, is in the process of launching additional satellites into orbit. Jio has partnered with SES to leverage cutting-edge medium-earth orbit satellite technology, capable of delivering gigabit, fiber-like services from space.
