Vodafone Idea 5G Launch In Delhi NCR from Today

Vodafone Idea (Vi) is set to launch its high-speed 5G services in Delhi NCR on May 15, 2025, marking a major step in its phased nationwide rollout. This move extends Vi’s 5G footprint to the capital region, joining Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Patna from its initial deployment phase.

Nationwide 5G Expansion

Vi plans to extend its 5G services across all 17 priority circles—where it holds spectrum rights—by August 2025. Cities like Bengaluru and Mysuru are next on the list, with rollouts already in progress in other key markets. In Mumbai, 70% of eligible users are now experiencing Vi’s 5G, with 20% of the city’s data traffic running on the upgraded network.

5G Introductory Offer

Vi is offering unlimited 5G data to users with compatible devices, starting at Rs 299. The company promises enhanced experiences for streaming, gaming, video conferencing, high-speed downloads, and real-time cloud applications.

Partnership with Ericsson

For its Delhi NCR rollout, Vi has partnered with Ericsson to deploy energy-efficient 5G infrastructure, featuring a 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture for smooth transitions between 4G and 5G. The deployment also includes AI-powered Self-Organising Network (SON) technology for optimised performance.

Ericsson has provided its Massive MIMO radios—AIR 3268 and AIR 3255—for Vi’s 5G service in Delhi. In October 2024, Vi awarded Ericsson the contract to upgrade its 4G infrastructure and deploy 5G in key regions, including Delhi, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan.

Modernizing Delhi’s Network

Ericsson has completed the modernisation of Vi’s network in Delhi, replacing legacy 2G and 4G equipment with its advanced, lightweight Radio System products. This upgrade is part of Vi’s strategic plan to deliver enhanced connectivity and digital experiences in metro regions.

Building a Future-Ready Network

Vi’s 5G rollout is part of its Rs 55,000 crore capital expenditure plan over three years, aimed at building a high-capacity, future-ready network to meet India’s growing digital demands. Through its partnership with Ericsson, Vi is set to unlock next-generation connectivity for consumers and enterprises, empowering a more digitally connected India.
