HFCL Gets Bharatnet Phase 3 Contract Worth Rs 8100 Crore

Summary:
HFCL cemented the position as the main player in the rural broadband expansion of India with the contract of Bharatnet Phase III secured of Rs 8,100 crore. The project covers meddle-mile network deployment in East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, enabling connectivity for 2.5 lakh gram panchayats and will strengthen India’s digital inclusion efforts. 

HFCL’s Role in BharatNet Phase III

With HFCL, consortium partners Rail Development Corporation Limited (RVNL) and aerial telecom solutions, about 40-45% of the tendered gram panchayats under the Bharatnet Phase III. The contract includes: 

  • Rs 6,925 crores for UP East and West circles  
  • Rs 1,244 crores for Punjab circle  
  • For a period of 10 years, a long-term O&M agreement of Rs 4,155 crore (UP) and Rs 746 crore (Punjab) 

This large-scale win positions HFCL at the forefront of India’s Rs 65,000 crore BharatNet III program. 

Indigenous Technology Push 

HFCL will supply BSNL and other system integrators to supply Made in India optical fiber cables, IP/MPLS routers, racks and power systems. Using locally designed and manufactured technology, HFCL is helping India reduce dependence on global telecom vendors. 

Impact on Rural Connectivity 

Bharatet III rollout by HFCL will significantly expand the rural broadband, which ensures affordable and high-speed internet access to villages. This digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by bridging digitally divided areas and empowering the rural communities with reliable connectivity. 

HFCL’s Rs 8,100 crore Bharat Phase III contract secure is a game changer for India’s rural broadband connectivity. By deploying indigenous technology, the company is running connectivity in millions of villages, supporting the government’s Digital India vision, and changing international vendors to the critical telecom network.
