C-DoT Launches ‘Samarth’ Incubation Program to Empower Startups in Telecom and IT

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), an autonomous telecom R&D center under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, has launched the first cohort of its incubation program, “Samarth”. This initiative aims to foster innovation and drive technological advancements in India’s telecommunications and IT sectors. Designed to support startups and innovators, the program focuses on next-generation technologies such as Telecom Software Applications, Cyber Security, 5G/6G, AI, IoT, and Quantum Technologies. It seeks to facilitate sustainable and scalable business models by providing access to cutting-edge resources and bridging the gap from ideation to commercialization.

To implement its vision, C-DoT has partnered with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), a premier S&T organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), which specializes in fostering IT/ITES innovation, R&D, and emerging technologies like IoT, Blockchain, AI, ML, Computer Vision, and Robotics. The “Samarth” incubation program is structured to support a maximum of 18 startups per cohort, with a total of 36 startups across two six-month cohorts. The program will be conducted in a hybrid mode, offering world-class infrastructure, expert mentorship, and networking opportunities with investors and industry leaders.

“Samarth” aims to build a strong startup ecosystem by encouraging collaboration, attracting investors, and creating a pipeline of future job-generating businesses. The program is open to DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) recognized startups. Selected startups will receive up to ₹5 lakh in grants, six months of furnished office space at the C-DoT campus, access to C-DoT lab facilities, and mentorship from industry experts and C-DoT leaders. Based on their progress, startups may also be considered for future collaboration under the C-DoT Collaborative Research Program. Applications will undergo a rigorous screening process, followed by a final selection based on pitches presented to a panel of industry experts.
