The state-run telecom operator of India, BSNL has released its Q1 FY26 financial results. The company posted a net loss of ₹1,049 crore, which is less than ₹1,542 crore reported in Q1 FY25. On the positive side, BSNL’s revenue from operations increased by 14.51% YoY to ₹5,026.4 crore, which shows an increase in its subscriber base and high average revenue per user (ARPU).

Key Highlights of BSNL Q1 FY26 Results

  • Revenue from operations earnings of ₹5,026.4 crore (up 14.51% YoY)
  • Net loss of ₹1,049 crore (vs ₹1,542 crore in Q1 FY25)
  • EBITDA of ₹1,501.9 crore, showing strong operational performance
  • Expenses fell 9.4% sequentially to ₹6,840 crore

This trend- increase in revenue and falling expenses suggests that BSNL is gradually getting more agitated and efficient in managing its operations.

Focus on 4G Expansion and 5G Readiness

BSNL priority is the deployment of 1 lakh 4G sites across India, a project that has been delayed, but continuously moving forward. Meanwhile, the telco has also started 5G tests in major circles like New Delhi, which aims to launch services in select areas after completion of 4G expansion

What This Means for BSNL

While profitability remains a challenge, the narrow disadvantages of BSNL, improvement in EBITDA, and low cost highlight a positive change in its financial health. With continuous government support, network modernization, and upcoming 4G/5G rollouts, BSNL itself is leading as a strong contestant against private players such as Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea.
