Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the government-owned telecom company, is witnessing an improvement in both its financial position and operational performance in FY26. The operator is also accelerating the nationwide rollout of its 4G services. During the nine-month period ending December 31, 2025, the company reported a cumulative EBITDA (core operating profit) of Rs 4,858 crore, marking a 105% increase compared to the same period last year.

Speaking to the media, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Telecom Minister, said, “The financial results have been extremely encouraging…which means that BSNL now is really showing healthy cash flows.”

In terms of revenue, the state-run operator posted total earnings of Rs 17,705 crore across the first three quarters of FY26, reflecting a 13% rise year-on-year. The Government of India has set a revenue target of Rs 27,500 crore for BSNL for the full financial year.

The company has also recorded growth in its average revenue per user (ARPU). In Q2 FY26, BSNL’s ARPU stood at Rs 91, up from Rs 81 in Q1 FY26, indicating steady progress.

Scindia further noted that the government is working toward facilitating private satellite broadband (satcom) services for customers in India.

“When both those things are done, then you can start executing on the satellite services…we are doing our best to get that spectrum assignment price on board as soon as possible,” he said.

“It will be my effort to ensure that that is done before any one of the companies have complied with all their requirements on their end,” the minister added.

With the continued expansion of 4G services, BSNL’s revenues are expected to strengthen further in the near term. The company is also preparing to introduce 5G services in the near future.
