Bharti Airtel recently experienced a network outage across several regions in India, with the most significant impact reported in Tamil Nadu and select cities. According to Downdetector by Ookla, the disruption occurred primarily between 7 PM and 11 PM on Tuesday, affecting cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nashik, Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and more. Many users took to social media to report signal loss and connectivity issues that lasted for several hours—an unusual event for the telecom giant.
Network Restoration and Absence of Official Statement
Since the outage, reports on the Downdetector platform have dwindled, indicating that network services have largely been restored. Despite the widespread impact, Airtel did not release an official statement addressing the cause of the downtime. Notably, the outage affected not only mobile networks but also Wi-Fi services, suggesting a more extensive disruption than usual.
Airtel’s Network Reliability Record
Airtel consistently meets the Quality of Service (QoS) standards set by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and is frequently recognized by global network intelligence experts for its robust infrastructure. Although outages are rare, typically occurring once or twice a year, they are usually resolved swiftly, reaffirming Airtel’s commitment to service reliability.
