Indian Railways is offering free Wi-Fi at 6,115 stations across the country as part of the Digital India initiative of the Government of India. Passengers can stream the video, download the content and enjoy high-speed internet to work online within the station premises, providing the RailTel service. Connect in a blink- select the Railwire Network, verify through the OTP, and start browsing. 

Indian Railways has rolled out free Wi-Fi facilities at 6,115 railway stations nationwide, confirmed Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. This move supports the Digital India programme, ensuring that passengers have access to reliable, high-speed internet while waiting at stations. Most railway stations already have 4G/5G network coverage from telecom service providers, and the free Wi-Fi service adds another layer of convenience for travelers.

This facility is Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal, Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Ambala Cantt, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Shimla, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Ranchi, Mangalore Central, Yesvantpur, Ernakulam Junction, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram Central, Bhopal, Indore, Mumbai Central, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Amritsar, Jalandhar City, Ludhiana, Chennai Central, Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Gorakhpur, Meerut City, Sealdah, Howrah, and many others. 

How to Use Free WiFi at Railway Station? 

Passengers can easily connect to free Wi-Fi service in just few steps: 

  1. Enable Wi-Fi on your smartphone.  
  1. Select “Railwire” from the available network.  
  1. Enter your mobile number to get OTP via SMS.  
  1. Enter OTP to start using high-speed WiFi internet. 

The service is ran by Railway, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. It allows travelers to stream HD video, download movies or music, play games, and complete office work at work.
