Jio Ranked India’s Top Telecom Network

Summary:
Reliance Jio has been named India’s best-performing telecom network by Opensignal after leading nine out of 16 network experience categories in a study conducted between October and December 2025. While Airtel topped five categories and continues to invest heavily in expanding rural coverage, Vodafone Idea led in three areas, particularly in 5G experience. Despite competition, Jio maintains a strong edge in overall performance and coverage, while Vodafone Idea focuses on raising funds to strengthen its network and compete more aggressively in the coming quarters.

Reliance Jio, the country’s largest telecom service provider, has been recognised by Opensignal as India’s top-performing network. The majority of network experience awards were secured by Jio. Opensignal, a network analytics and research company, evaluated the performance of Indian telecom operators over the period from October 1, 2025, to December 29, 2025. The assessment covered 16 separate performance categories. Jio led in nine of these categories, while Airtel topped five. Vodafone Idea emerged as the winner in three categories and outperformed both Airtel and Jio in overall 5G experience. More details on this can be found through the link below.

Reliance Jio claimed top honours in the following areas: Video Experience (shared with Airtel), Download Speed Experience, 5G Download Speed, Coverage Experience, 5G Coverage Experience, Time on Network, 5G Availability, Consistent Quality, and Reliability Experience.

Airtel secured wins in these categories: Video Experience (jointly with Jio), Gaming Experience, Voice App Experience, Upload Speed Experience, and 5G Upload Speed.

Vodafone Idea led in the following segments: 5G Video Experience, 5G Gaming Experience, and 5G Voice App Experience. Reliance Jio has consistently stayed ahead of its rivals in coverage performance, across both 4G and 5G networks. Airtel, meanwhile, is working to narrow the gap in coverage. Over the past two years, the company has invested thousands of crores to expand its 4G footprint in rural India, with a particular focus on Gujarat.

Vodafone Idea, on the other hand, continues to work on raising funds to accelerate its capital expenditure plans in the coming quarters, aiming to compete more effectively with Airtel and Jio. Its success in securing fresh funding remains to be seen, even after the government provided significant relief by easing the telco’s adjusted gross revenue (AGR) payment obligations.
