Vodafone Idea Launches Vi Protect in IMC 2025

Summary:
Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has launched Vi Protect, an AI-powered safety and cyber defense solution for clients and businesses, designed to stumble on voice spam and protect networks. Introduced on the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, Vi Protect enhances call security and network resilience, showcasing Vi’s push towards smarter, safer digital connectivity.

Vi Protect: AI-Powered Spam Detection for Customers

Vodafone Idea’s new Vi Protect system uses artificial intelligence to detect and block spam or fraudulent calls directly at the network layer. Unlike third-party caller ID applications, Vi Protect works natively within Vi’s infrastructure—meaning users don’t need to install any extra apps. When a suspicious number calls, the phone displays a “Suspected Spam” alert in real time, helping users decide whether to answer or reject the call.

The company stated that this network-integrated model ensures higher accuracy, stronger privacy, and real-time threat identification, providing customers with enhanced protection against voice scams and frauds.

AI Cyber Defense for Enterprise and Network Security

In addition to spam detection, Vi has introduced an AI-driven Cyber Defense and Incident Response System to strengthen its core network and enterprise operations. This system can detect and analyze cyber threats in under an hour, offering 70% accuracy while reducing false positives. It operates through a five-step defense mechanism to monitor, detect, and respond to potential risks quickly and efficiently.

Vodafone Idea’s Focus on Digital Safety

Jagbir Singh, CTO of Vodafone Idea, emphasized the company’s commitment to secure connectivity “With India’s growing digital adoption, protecting customer networks has never been more important. Vi Protect combines AI and proactive defense to create a safe and trusted digital environment.”

With Vi Protect, Vodafone Idea is positioning itself as a tech-driven telecom leader, combining AI, cybersecurity, and network innovation to enhance customer trust and digital safety. The move aligns with India’s vision of secure and intelligent telecom infrastructure, reflecting Vi’s renewed focus on customer protection and digital resilience.
