Vi 5G Deployment at Golden Temple

The Golden Temple—renowned for hosting the world’s largest community kitchen, or Langar—draws massive crowds daily. This heavy visitor presence creates strong demand for mobile data within a limited area. To manage the surge in network usage and maintain dependable service even during busy periods, Vi stated that it has installed dedicated 5G infrastructure in and around the temple complex.

Network Upgrade to Support Large Crowds

The telecom company noted that the focused network enhancement and increased site density will allow Vi subscribers visiting the Golden Temple in Amritsar to benefit from faster mobile broadband speeds, reduced latency, and more consistent connectivity, improving overall mobile performance in a densely populated setting.

Further Expansion Across Punjab

Vi’s 5G network is already operational in several locations across Punjab, including Chandigarh, Mohali, Kharar, and Zirakpur. The company added that it is continuing with its broader rollout strategy across additional parts of the state, with preparations for the next stage of expansion currently in progress.

Commenting on the announcement, Rahul Joshi, Circle Business Head for Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir at Vodafone Idea, said, “Bringing our 5G services to the Golden Temple represents a significant step in our growth journey in Punjab. We remain committed to strengthening connectivity at important public locations while steadily expanding our 5G presence across the region. As digital usage continues to rise, our priority is to deliver fast and dependable network experiences for our customers.”
