Vodafone Idea 5G Network to be Expanded in 23 More Cities

Vodafone Idea is accelerating its 5G rollout across India, announcing deployment in 23 more cities as part of its strategic expansion. With this phase, Vi’s 5G network now extends to major urban centers like Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Pune. The rollout, focused on Vi’s 17 priority circles where it holds 5G spectrum, includes a phased launch to ensure robust and efficient service delivery. 

Full List of Cities Getting Vi 5G Services 

The newly added cities include: Ahmedabad, Agra, Aurangabad, Kozhikode, Cochin, Dehradun, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Malappuram, Meerut, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Rajkot, Sonepat, Surat, Siliguri, Trivandrum, Vadodara, and Vizag. 

This follows Vi’s recent 5G launches in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Patna. 

Introductory Offer: Unlimited 5G Data 

Vi is offering unlimited 5G data on all plans starting at ₹299. Users with 5G-enabled smartphones in these cities can start enjoying high-speed connectivity as soon as the services go live. 

AI-Powered Network for Better Coverage and Efficiency 

Vodafone Idea is deploying AI-powered Self-Organising Networks (SON) to improve performance, optimize energy usage, and enhance indoor coverage. In collaboration with Ericsson, and Samsung, Vi aims to seamlessly integrate its 4G and 5G infrastructure for better capacity and user experience. 

Focus on Sustainability and Seamless User Experience 

Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer of Vi, emphasized the company’s dual focus: “Our 5G rollout is progressing steadily and we are strengthening our 4G network at the same time. With over 84% population coverage through 4G and improved indoor connectivity, Vi is committed to delivering superior digital experiences.”

Vi’s latest move not only reinforces its commitment to India’s digital transformation, but also brings the next-generation 5G experience to more regions. The use of AI and global technology partnerships positions Vi to compete more effectively with rivals like Jio and Airtel, especially in urban and semi-urban markets.
