As of June 2024, the total number of telephone subscribers in India reached 1,205.64 million, with 1,170.53 million wireless subscribers and 35.11 million wireline subscribers. This resulted in an overall teledensity of 85.95%, with urban teledensity at 133.46% and rural teledensity at 59.65%. The number of broadband subscribers increased from 935.13 million in May 2024 to 940.75 million in June 2024, reflecting a monthly growth rate of 0.60%. Reliance Jio held the largest market share at 51.97%, followed by Airtel at 29.91%, and Vodafone Idea at 13.59%.
Wireline subscriptions saw a growth from 34.73 million in May 2024 to 35.11 million in June 2024, a net increase of 0.37 million and a growth rate of 1.08%. Reliance Jio dominated the wireline market with a 37.59% share, followed by Bharti Airtel at 25.79%, and Vodafone Idea at 2.35%. Public sector undertakings (BSNL, MTNL, and APSFL) collectively held 26.08% of the wireline market.

Wireless subscriptions rose from 1,166.96 million in April 2024 to 1,168.95 million by May 2024, showing a modest monthly growth rate of 0.17%.
