Tejas Networks Signs ₹525 Crore Technology Collaboration Deal with Japan’s NEC

Networking equipment manufacturer Tejas Networks has entered into a ₹525 crore technology collaboration agreement with NEC Corporation, a leading Japanese telecom company, to develop advanced wireless technologies for global telecom operators. The company disclosed this in an exchange filing on February 7.

The partnership focuses on advanced Radio Access Network (RAN) and core telecom products, with payments to Tejas Networks linked to milestone achievements over the next year. Additionally, Tejas will have the opportunity to participate in NEC’s go-to-market (GTM) initiatives, which include market research, marketing strategies, and setting up distribution channels.

NEC, a global leader in 5G technology with a market capitalization exceeding $27 billion, aims to collaborate with Tejas on developing next-generation networking solutions beyond 5G. As part of the agreement, NEC will license its field-proven 4G/5G converged core technology to Tejas, enabling both companies to leverage cutting-edge telecom advancements worldwide.

NEC has a strong track record in designing and manufacturing wireless solutions for telecom networks globally. Meanwhile, Tejas has successfully deployed large-scale 4G/5G RAN products and built a robust 5G product portfolio. This collaboration will further strengthen Tejas’ position in next-generation telecom infrastructure, accelerating its 5G expansion strategy, the company said.
