Tech Mahindra Expands Private 5G in India to Drive Smart Factory and AI-Led Innovations

Summary:
Tech Mahindra is accelerating the deployment of private 5G networks in India to power Industry 4.0 use cases such as connected robotics, real-time analytics, and AI-driven automation. Despite regulatory challenges and slow enterprise adoption, the company continues to collaborate with telecom operators and ecosystem partners to expand the industrial 5G landscape across India.

Tech Mahindra Leads India’s Private 5G Push

Tech Mahindra is at the forefront of the captive non-public networks (CNPNs) building in India, enabling manufacturers to increase efficiency and quality through digital transformation. The company has successfully implemented a private 5G network in automotive manufacturing, helping industries lever to real-time analytics and automation for improved productivity.

Amol Phadke, CTO of Tech Mahindra, published that the advanced industry and enterprises are working to bring Industry 4.0 use cases to life. In view of its previous partnership with Bharti Airtel in India’s Chakan facility at India’s first 5G-enabled automobile plant in 2022, the company has also continued the co-development of AI-operated 5G solutions.

Challenges in Private 5G Adoption

While private 5G networks offer ultra-fast, safe and low latency connection, the adoption in India has been gradually. Key challenges include limited spectrum accessibility, regulatory uncertainty and unclear ROI for companies. However, industry experts believe that adoption will accelerate as companies witness measurable gains by integrating AI, IoT and edge calculation into their digital infrastructure.

Government and Industry Developments

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has initiated demand studies for enterprise 5G spectrum, although the answers are still limited. Meanwhile, GSMA has recommended an operator-led model to ensure cost-effectiveness, reliability and improved security for corporate distributions.

Outlook: AI and 5G Convergence Driving Growth

Tech Mahindra is committed to scaling AI-led private 5G solutions in areas such as logistics, healthcare and manufacturing. Combining AI, automation and connectivity, the company aims to deliver the tangible Industry 4.0 results when navigating to India’s developed regulatory ecosystem.
