US telecom operator T-Mobile officially launched its first Global Technology Centre (GTC) in India on June 4, establishing the facility in Hyderabad. The centre was inaugurated by Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
Managed by TMUS Global Solutions, the new campus covers approximately 2.5 lakh square feet and is expected to expand its workforce to nearly 1,000 employees by 2027.
The Hyderabad facility will function as a key technology and innovation hub, focusing on areas such as software development, DevOps, product engineering, data analytics, cybersecurity, and advanced digital technologies.
T-Mobile ranks among the largest wireless service providers in the United States, with a customer base exceeding 140 million subscribers.
The centre will play a significant role in developing software platforms, cloud-based solutions, artificial intelligence, automation technologies, and enterprise digital transformation initiatives, while also supporting global technology operations and customer experience functions.
According to Chandra Gupta, Hyderabad was selected due to its strong technology talent pool, innovation ecosystem, and capabilities that align with the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
Speaking at the launch, Sridhar Babu expressed appreciation for T-Mobile’s decision to invest in Telangana, noting that the rapid growth of the centre and the hiring of hundreds of skilled professionals demonstrate Hyderabad’s ability to provide world-class technology talent at scale.
The Telangana government said the addition of TMUS Global Solutions further reinforces Hyderabad’s position as a major destination for telecom technology, digital engineering, and enterprise innovation.
The investment also reflects Telangana’s growing appeal among multinational corporations establishing Global Capability Centres (GCCs). According to the state government, Hyderabad is currently home to more than 450 GCCs that collectively employ over 300,000 professionals across various industries.
