RVNL Wins ₹3,622 Crore BharatNet Contract to Enhance Rural Connectivity

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) announced the receipt of a Letter of Acceptance from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for a significant project under the BharatNet initiative. This project focuses on developing, upgrading, and maintaining the middle-mile network to enhance connectivity in rural and underserved areas, aligning with the Government of India’s Digital India mission.  

The project, valued at ₹3,622.14 crore, will be executed on a Design-Build-Operate-Maintain (DBOM) model to ensure sustainable and efficient service delivery. RVNL is collaborating with HFCL and ATS, leveraging their expertise to ensure the project’s successful completion.  

Project Details 

The initiative will be carried out in two phases: 

Phase 1: A three-year construction period for network development and upgrades. 

Phase 2: A 10-year maintenance period split into two five-year intervals, with remuneration based on capital expenditure. Payments will be 5.5% per annum for the first five years, increasing to 6.5% for the subsequent five years.  

RVNL stated that the project aligns with its core focus on infrastructure development in India. By enhancing BharatNet’s middle-mile network, it aims to bridge the digital divide and promote connectivity in remote regions. This milestone solidifies RVNL’s position as a key player in telecom infrastructure development, contributing significantly to India’s digital transformation.
