Paytm Unveils Card Soundbox for Accepting Domestic and International Card Payments

Paytm has unveiled its latest innovation, the ‘Card Soundbox,’ a versatile device that facilitates both mobile and card payments. Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO of Paytm, expressed his confidence that this milestone solution will elevate India’s merchant payment capabilities. The Card Soundbox addresses two key challenges for merchants: the ability to accept card payments and providing instant audio alerts for all transactions. This device is equipped to process payments from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and RuPay networks, expanding the options available to merchants. With features like ‘tap and pay,’ card-based payments are expected to enhance merchants’ ability to expand their businesses.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma emphasized Paytm’s commitment to innovation and its dedication to addressing the payment and financial service needs of India’s small businesses. The Card Soundbox seamlessly combines mobile payments with card acceptance, fulfilling the dual requirements of both merchants and consumers. In a country where UPI and other online payment systems have gained significant popularity in retail digital payments, the launch of the Card Soundbox is poised to bridge the gap between mobile and card-based payments. Paytm’s previous innovation, the Paytm Soundbox with audio-based confirmations, was introduced in 2019.

The Card Soundbox boasts built-in ‘tap and pay’ functionality, allowing merchants to accept card payments of up to Rs 5,000. This Made in India device is powered by 4G network connectivity, features a 4W speaker, and offers a five-day battery life. Designed to cater to a diverse merchant base, the device provides transaction alerts in 11 languages, which merchants can customize using the ‘Paytm for Business’ app. This innovative solution promises to streamline payment processes for businesses across India.
