Telecom Company of the Year: Jio Platforms | Asian Telecom Awards 2024

Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom operator, has been awarded the ‘Telecom Company of the Year’ at the Asian Telecom Awards 2024. The recognition stems from Jio’s deployment of the world’s largest 5G standalone (SA) core network, which has extended its reach across nearly every part of the country. Currently, Jio is focused on expanding its 5G network coverage to enhance connectivity nationwide.

The prestigious award was presented to Jio during a grand ceremony held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Center in Singapore. With close to 100 million 5G customers, Jio anticipates further growth in 2024 as more customers transition from 4G-only devices to 5G-enabled smartphones.

Presently, Jio boasts a user base exceeding 450 million, comprising both 4G and 5G subscribers. Notably, Jio’s 5G rollout is not only swift but also relies on indigenous technology. Additionally, Jio Platforms is exploring opportunities to export this technology to other developing nations, providing them with alternative options beyond global telecom equipment giants such as Nokia and Ericsson.
