Reliance Jio’s enterprise arm, Jio Business, is making a strong push into private 5G networks, targeting sectors like manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare. The goal? To help enterprises transition to Industry 5.0 by combining advanced connectivity, automation, and real-time data intelligence.
Enabling the Shift to Industry 5.0
At 5G Congress 2025, Ajay Sehgal, Chief Revenue Officer at Jio Business, outlined the company’s strategy to deploy private 5G networks within the next three to four months. “As automation and IoT adoption grow in factories, the limitations of public 5G become clear. That’s where private 5G comes in — offering secure, high-speed, dedicated connectivity,” Sehgal said.
He compared the shift to private 5G with the earlier migration from public to private cloud infrastructure, adding that network slicing enables Jio to create customized, high-performance networks for enterprise needs.
Human-Centric Tech for Smarter Factories
Sehgal emphasized that Industry 5.0 isn’t just about machines — it’s about putting people at the center of innovation. “Machines bring scale and precision, but humans provide creativity, decision-making, and context. Private 5G is helping manufacturers become more agile, responsive, and intelligent,” he said. Jio’s focus is on harmonizing human and machine collaboration, creating smart factories where both work in sync.
Powering the Industrial Future with IoT and Edge
Sehgal also highlighted the crucial role of IoT and edge computing in this transformation. “In modern factories, every machine must be IoT-enabled for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance. That level of connectivity is only possible with private 5G,” he explained.
He added that edge computing is now essential, as data processing must happen closer to where it’s generated — not just in centralized data centers. “We’re investing in the technologies that matter — private 5G, IoT, edge — to help Indian industries embrace the future,” Sehgal concluded.
