IMC 2025 Theme Launched- Innovate to Transform

In a landmark announcement underscoring India’s growing digital aspirations, Union Minister of Communications and Development of the Northeastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, revealed the theme for the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025—‘Innovate to Transform’. Scheduled to be held from October 8 to 11 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi, the event will serve as a global stage for emerging technologies and reinforce India’s position as a leader in digital innovation. 

Highlighting the pivotal role of innovation in driving national progress, Shri Scindia stated that the theme reflects India’s journey toward technological self-reliance, where innovation fuels transformation across sectors. IMC 2025 will showcase India’s strength in telecom, electronics, and frontier technologies developed over the last decade. 

Global Scale, Strong Participation 

Jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), IMC 2025 is expected to attract: 

  • Over 1.5 lakh attendees from more than 150 countries 
  • 400+ exhibitors 
  • 800+ global thought leaders participating in 100+ conference sessions 
  • 7,000+ international delegates 

Spotlight on Startups and Innovation 

The event will also feature ASPIRE, IMC’s flagship startup initiative launched in 2023. This year, it will return with participation from 500+ startups, connecting them with over 300 investors, incubators, and venture capitalists. The platform will host mentorship opportunities, live pitch sessions, and high-value networking. 

A major highlight of IMC 2025 will be the demonstration of 1,000+ cutting-edge use cases spanning: 

  • 5G and 6G 
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) 
  • Electronics manufacturing 
  • Green technology 

These innovations are aimed at solving real-world problems and enabling inclusive digital development across India. 

Honouring Excellence in Telecom 

As part of the event, the Ministry announced the recipients of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Telecom Excellence Awards 2024, recognizing outstanding contributions to the telecom sector in areas such as innovation, services, manufacturing, skill development, and applications. The awardees include: 

  • Mr. Parag Naik, Co-founder, Sankhya Labs 
  • Niral Networks Private Limited, Bengaluru 
  • Lekha Wireless, Bengaluru 
  • Prof. Chandra Ramabhadra Murthy, IISc Bengaluru 
  • Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) 

Each winner received a citation, shawl, and ₹2 lakh cash prize. 

Revamped Sanchar Mitra Scheme Launched 

Furthering the government’s mission of digital empowerment, Shri Scindia launched a revamped Sanchar Mitra Scheme. Now scaled as a national initiative, the program will be driven by student volunteers from technical institutions across India. These Sanchar Mitras will conduct community outreach programs to promote awareness around telecom safety, cybersecurity, and responsible digital behaviour. 

Technology for a Viksit Bharat 

Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman DCC and Secretary (Telecom), DoT, emphasized that IMC aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, where transformative technologies play a foundational role in development. 

Reaffirming India’s capabilities, Shri Scindia remarked, “India today possesses DSS capabilities—Designing in India, Solving in India, and Scaling from India—demonstrating our self-reliance and global innovation potential.” 

As India celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, IMC 2025 stands as a testament to the nation’s commitment to digital inclusion, innovation-led growth, and global leadership in next-generation technologies.
