HFCL upgrades BSNL Network to Speed Up Data Service

HFCL Limited has successfully completed one of the largest global deployments of Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) architecture-based Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Valued at approximately ₹390 crore, the project began in October 2022. At 2:15 pm, HFCL’s shares were trading at ₹146.59 on the NSE, up by ₹0.23 or 0.16%.

According to a company release, this upgraded infrastructure significantly improves BSNL’s network efficiency, enabling enhanced high-speed data services for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and enterprise applications. It also boosts capacity and reliability while supporting the 1.5 lakh gram panchayats connected under the BharatNet project

HFCL managed the entire process, including design, supply, commissioning, testing, and migration from legacy networks. The upgraded BNG will act as the internet gateway for all BSNL enterprise and home users, as well as for the existing and expanded BharatNet network. This deployment is expected to enhance BSNL’s ability to cater to high-end enterprise clients while also helping to reduce the digital divide in rural and remote areas.
