Ericsson to Localize Passive Antenna Production in India by June 2025

Ericsson Antenna System (EAS), a business unit of Swedish telecom giant Ericsson, is set to fully localize the production of passive antennas in India by June 2025. This strategic move, in partnership with Indian technology firm VVDN Technologies, marks a major expansion of Ericsson’s manufacturing footprint in the region and reinforces India’s growing role as an innovation and export hub in the company’s global operations.

The locally manufactured antennas will serve both domestic and international markets, strengthen Ericsson’s global supply chain and enabling faster response to regional customer needs. “Antennas are a vital entry point to network performance and innovation,” said the Head of Ericsson Antenna System. “By expanding manufacturing capabilities in India, we’re bringing development closer to our customers and accelerating the deployment of next-generation networks.”

Supporting India’s 5G Ambitions and Digital Ecosystem

The localization initiative is aligned with India’s ongoing 5G rollout and broader digital transformation goals. The company expects the move to improve time-to-market, enhance collaboration with local partners, and build greater supply chain resilience.

“This expansion highlights our long-term commitment to India’s industrial and digital growth,” said Nitin Bansal, Managing Director of Ericsson India. “Local manufacturing ensures quicker deployments, increased agility, and better preparedness for supply chain disruptions.”
