DE-CIX to Offer Infra Support for Starlink India Launch

Summary:
Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture, is set to launch its services in India at the end of 2025 or in the beginning of 2026. The company has partnered with a major internet exchange provider, DE-CIX for important ground infrastructure support. With the approval from the IN-Space safe and approval from the spectrum allocation, the Starlink is designed to bridge the rural regions of India.

Starlink Lauch in India Needs on Ground Support

Starlink is entering the Indian market, providing the ground infrastructure required to support its satellite connectivity with DE-CIX. While Starlink has already deployed more than 7,500 lower earth orbit (LEO) satellites, it is still required to give reliable and scalable local interconnection points to provide spontaneous internet services across India. The high-capacity network of the DE-CIX will ensure that Starlink can provide high speed, low-lonely connections to users-even in the most remote areas of India.

Required Launch Timeline and Speed

Estimated Launch: Late 2025 or Early 2026

Internet Speed: Between 25 Mbps and 220 Mbps

Target Audience: Users who lack fiber or 5G connectivity in rural, remote and hilly areas.

Government Approval and Regulator Update

In-space approval: Already received

Spectrum allocation: Waiting for final approval

Possible allocation mode: Administration

Pricing expectations are aligned with nearby countries i.e. Bangladesh and Bhutan

Role of DE-CIX in India’s Digital Future

Sudhir Kundar, Chief Business Officer of DE-CIX insisted on LinkedIn “Even the most advanced satellite constellation (7,500+ or more) requires reliable, scalable and obedient ground infrastructure. It is not only a technical victory, but a social jump.”

The infrastructure of the DE-CIX is interconnected through a global platform to support safe, high-performance internet across India. This cooperation underlines India’s vision for Universal Broadband Access, especially in hard-to-wheel areas.

Close to launching in India as Starlink edges, supported by strong infrastructure of DE-CIX, it promises to be a game-changer for digital inclusion. Although this may not be a Go-Two option for urban users, its impact on Rural and remote connectivity can be transformational for millions.
