In the realm of digitalization and the public sector, a one-size-fits-all approach is simply not applicable. The challenges faced by local councils and public sector entities, from addressing the connectivity needs of sparsely populated rural areas to those of highly underserved urban regions, are both diverse and numerous.
So, how can the private sector assist the public sector in fulfilling the increasing demand for connectivity across the country?
For Andy Bell of ITS, the key to successful collaboration with these organizations lies in gaining a deep understanding of the unique requirements of the public sector early in the engagement process.
“The demographics of each local council are entirely distinct. There are areas with high population density where we can link up public sector assets, as well as areas with significant demand where we need to extend our reach to remote locations while ensuring that no one gets left behind,” he elaborated.
“We base our approach on insights into the needs of local councils, emergency services, infrastructure, social housing, and more. This early engagement enables us to tailor our solutions effectively.”
Yet, comprehending the distinct needs of these entities is just one part of the equation. Equally challenging is the need to remain flexible and adaptable in meeting these diverse needs.
“We are an agile organization. We have formed joint ventures, like our collaboration with Liverpool City Council and another third-party organization, and we have also established concession agreements,” he pointed out. “Additionally, we have a partner network comprising over 500 organizations specializing in local service delivery, social housing, rural broadband, and more. This network allows us to provide them with enhanced access to various residential and rural sites.”
