BSNL Live TV App Now on Google Play Store

BSNL Live TV App Now on Google Play Store

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced the “BSNL Live TV” app for Android TVs, now available for download on the Google Play Store. The app, published by WeConnect, has so far garnered only 10 downloads. However, the app’s functionalities and features remain unclear.

The “About This App” section describes it as offering a unified 4K HEVC network across India, combining Cable TV, Internet, and Landline Telephone services through a single CPE device. The device supports 4K video, has a built-in Wi-Fi router, provides access to major OTT platforms, and includes integrated CCTV features, all controlled by an Android-based system.

It remains to be seen how users will respond to this new app. Currently, BSNL already provides IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) services via fiber at competitive prices, which may challenge similar offerings from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.

In a February 2, 2024, statement, BSNL announced that its IPTV services are available for Rs 130 per month. It offers two HD packs: the HD Starter plan at Rs 270 with 211 channels and the HD Bonanza plan at Rs 400 with 223 channels. BSNL’s IPTV service is also compatible with Android TV sets without the need for a set-top box.

The announcement of BSNL’s Live TV app was made by AIGETOA, a recognized association of BSNL employees. Meanwhile, BSNL is expanding its 4G network, having already covered 25,000 sites, with plans to reach 75,000 sites in the coming months.
