4G Service in Thiruvallur Begins, BSNL 4G Launch in Chennai Next

BSNL has launched its 4G services in the Thiruvallur district and confirmed that Chennai, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts will soon receive the service. The nationwide rollout of BSNL’s 4G service, which has been long overdue, is expected to achieve full coverage by next month. 

In Tamil Nadu, under the phase IX.2 project, BSNL is installing approximately 2,114 4G towers across Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, and Thiruvallur districts to initiate the service. 

At a launch event yesterday, the 4G connection was rolled out in the following areas of Thiruvallur district, in the presence of Papa Sudhakara Rao, Chief General Manager of BSNL Chennai Telephones: 

– Annamalaicheri 

– Athipedu 

– Elavembedu 

– Kolathur 

– Koramangalam 

– LNT Shipyard Kattupalli 

– Minjur 

– Nochili 

– Pallipet 

– Ponneri 

– Poonimangadu 

– RK Pet 

– Sembedu 

– Srikalikapuram 

– Thirupalaivanam 

– Thiruvellavoyal 

– Vanganoor 

– Veeranathur 

This project is part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative and is funded by the Universal Service Obligation (USO) Fund of the Centre, costing Rs 16.25 crore. The rollout of BSNL 4G services across these Tamil Nadu districts is expected soon. Additionally, the BSNL Chennai site has confirmed free SIMs for new activations and free 4G SIM upgrades until September 2024.
