6400 5G Towers Added in India During September 2025

Summary:
India’s 5G rollout continues to accelerate, including over 6,400 new 5G base stations (BTS) in September 2025, which has taken a total of 5.04 lakh 5G sites across the country. This stable expansion highlights India’s strong pace in achieving 5G coverage nationwide, led by operators like Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL. 

According to the stats by DoT, the total number of towers in India has reached 504,588 by the end of September 2025, which was 498,135 in August. This means that 6,453 new sites were installed in a month, showing the most significant monthly increase this year. 

Thousands of new 5G BTS has been added per month which slates continuous network expansion in India. 

  • 3,299 in May 
  • 4,312 in June 
  • 6450 in July 
  • 5615 in August 

These reflect the commitment to create a strong 5G ecosystem in the telecom sector that supports future technologies such as IoT, AI and Industry 4.0. 

India’s stable 5G rollout shows its growing position as one of the world’s largest digital connectivity markets. With BSNL joining private players in the network expansion, the country is approaching its Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
