Vodafone Idea Rs 1049 Recharge Details

In a bid to strengthen its prepaid portfolio and retain long-term users, Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced a new ₹1,049 prepaid plan offering extended validity and essential telecom benefits. Aimed at users seeking voice-centric services with minimal data needs, the plan comes with 180 days of validity.

Key Benefits of the ₹1,049 Plan:

  • Truly Unlimited voice calls across all networks
  • 12GB total high-speed data for the full 180-day period
  • 1,800 SMS for standard messaging use

Once the included benefits are exhausted, post-usage charges apply:

  • 50p/MB for additional data
  • ₹1 for local SMS, and
  • ₹1.50 for STD SMS

Strategic Focus: User Segmentation and Retention

The plan is part of Vi’s broader strategy to target specific user segments—including senior citizens, rural subscribers, and dual-SIM users—who typically consume less data but rely heavily on voice services.

By offering a long-duration pack, Vi aims to reduce recharge frequency, lower churn, and improve Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) amid stiff competition from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.

A Value Proposition for Non-Metro Markets

The ₹1,049 plan is particularly appealing for users in non-metro and semi-urban regions, where data usage may be limited, but long-term connectivity is crucial. This aligns with Vi’s goal of strengthening customer loyalty while simplifying the prepaid experience.

Background Context

As per the latest TRAI data, Vodafone Idea continues to face challenges in subscriber additions and 4G penetration. Innovative and value-centric prepaid offerings like this are critical to stabilizing its user base and sustaining revenue in a highly competitive telecom landscape.
