Vodafone Idea Cisco Deal for 4G, 5G Boost

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced a strategic partnership with global technology leader Cisco to modernize its network infrastructure. The initiative aims to enhance network agility, scalability, and operational efficiency while significantly improving digital experiences for both individual and enterprise users. 

Deploying a Next-Gen MPLS Transport Network 

Under this collaboration, Vi will roll out a Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based transport network, powered by Cisco’s advanced networking solutions. This new infrastructure will help boost network reliability, optimize data traffic flow, and deliver seamless connectivity across India. 

Improved User Experience for Consumers and Businesses 

According to a joint statement, the upgraded network will allow Vi to manage increasing data traffic volumes with greater efficiency, offering enhanced performance and stability. “Consumers can expect faster and more reliable internet for video streaming, online gaming, video calls, and everyday browsing,” the statement noted. “Enterprises, from startups to large organizations, will benefit from secure, high-performance connectivity that supports daily operations and fuels digital growth.” 

Future-Ready Infrastructure Backed by Cisco  

Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer at Vi, emphasized the importance of the upgrade “Our collaboration with Cisco demonstrates Vi’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge network technologies. Cisco’s expertise in MPLS will enable us to automate network functions, optimize traffic, and adapt quickly to evolving market needs. This next-gen transport network is built to deliver high performance, reliability, and security in today’s dynamic digital landscape.”

Cisco added that its advanced solutions will help Vi streamline network operations, reduce operational costs, and accelerate service innovation through dynamic, software-driven network management. The integration of Cisco’s MPLS technology not only strengthens Vi’s current capabilities but also lays a strong foundation for future innovations in connectivity and digital services, reinforcing Vi’s position as a key player in India’s telecom ecosystem.
