Vodafone Idea AGR dues hearing on 13 October; Vi Shares Surges

Vodafone Idea AGR dues hearing on 13 October

Summary:
Vodafone Idea is seeking Supreme Court to waive interest, penalties related to Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues. Apex court will hear the petition on October 13, 2025. As of 8th Oct 2025, Vodafone Idea surged about 11% over the past week and about 21% over the past week, reflecting the spirit of strong investors before they heard.

Vodafone Idea’s Plea for AGR Dues Relief

The Vodafone Idea (Vi) has filed a petition requesting relief from the interest and penalties of its AGR dues sought by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The company has also sought permission to amend its previous application, which challenged the demand for the DoT’s additional AGR demand of Rs 9,450 crore by FY 2018-19.

In the revised application, Vi says that the penalties and associated charges were not reasonable, and say that no failure to pay, but arose from the original interpretation dispute regarding AGR calculations.

Supreme Court Hearing and Industry Impact

The Supreme Court will hear the case on October 13 October, which could have a significant impact on VI’s financial health and extensive telecom sector. Convenient judgment can help reduce Vi financially and improve its possibilities for funds and 5G rollout

Investor Response and Market Movement

Vodafone Idea shares have increased by about 11% and about 21% in the past month, and the optimism of investors have been strong before the court hearing. Analysts believe that AGR dues relaxation can accelerate the recovery efforts and strengthen competition in India’s telecom industry.
