Vodafone Idea (Vi), India’s third-largest telecom operator, has launched 5G services for its prepaid and postpaid users, starting with Mumbai. The company plans to expand its 5G network to other cities, including Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Patna, by April 2025.
Vi has confirmed that all postpaid users within a 5G coverage area will get unlimited 5G data across all postpaid plans starting from ₹451. However, details regarding prepaid plans remain unclear. While Vi’s ₹299 prepaid plan appears to include unlimited 5G, the company has yet to specify whether all higher-value prepaid plans will offer the same benefit.
Unlike Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, which require users to recharge with 2GB daily data plans to access 5G, Vi’s approach remains to be seen. For now, postpaid customers are guaranteed unlimited 5G, while prepaid users await further announcements.
