Reliance to Set Up AI-Ready Data Center in Assam with ₹50,000 Crore Investment

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is set to establish an AI-ready data center in Assam, with a focus on transforming the education, healthcare, and agriculture sectors. Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced this initiative on Tuesday, pledging ₹50,000 crore in investments over the next five years, calling Assam a “land of growth opportunities.”

Five Key Priority Areas for Assam

Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ambani outlined five priority areas for investment: Artificial Intelligence and technology, green energy, agriculture and food processing, retail, and hospitality and tourism. He emphasized that these initiatives would generate tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs for Assam’s youth.

AI: From Artificial Intelligence to “Assam Intelligence”

Highlighting Assam’s reputation as the “Tea Paradise,” Ambani expressed confidence that the state would also be recognized as a “Technological Paradise” in the coming decades. “Assam’s tech-savvy youth will redefine AI—not just as Artificial Intelligence, but as Assam Intelligence,” he said.

Reliance had previously committed ₹5,000 crore to Assam during the 2018 Advantage Assam summit. Since then, its investment has exceeded ₹12,000 crore. Ambani now promises to more than quadruple this figure to ₹50,000 crore over the next five years, focusing on these key sectors.

Building Assam’s Digital and AI Infrastructure

“Our first priority is to make Assam technology-ready and AI-ready. For us, Assam’s digital transformation is a noble and patriotic mission,” Ambani stated at the Advantage Assam Summit 2025.

He highlighted Jio’s impact in making Assam “2G-Mukt and 5G-Yukt” and expressed gratitude for the state’s widespread adoption of Jio services. “After building world-class connectivity infrastructure, we will now install high-performance computing infrastructure,” he added.

AI-Ready Data Center: Transforming Key Sectors

Reliance’s AI-ready data center in Assam will revolutionize multiple industries, enabling:

✅ AI-assisted teachers to support students.

✅ AI-assisted doctors to enhance healthcare services.

✅ AI-powered solutions for farmers to improve agriculture.

✅ Opportunities for Assam’s youth to learn and earn from home.

With this initiative, Reliance aims to position Assam as a major hub for AI innovation and technological growth, ensuring the state remains at the forefront of India’s digital revolution.
