Nokia and Dell Partnership for Private 5G and Cloud Network Development

Nokia and Dell Technologies have forged a partnership aimed at facilitating the deployment of private 5G networks and transitioning networks to the cloud, as outlined in a joint statement. Private 5G networks are typically owned, operated, or leased by individual organizations. Under the agreement, customers using Nokia AirFrame, the telecommunications equipment manufacturer’s cloud-focused data center business, will eventually transition to Dell’s PowerEdge servers, specifically designed for modern telecom network workloads.

Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) will serve as Dell’s preferred private wireless platform for specific enterprise customers’ needs. The collaboration seeks to integrate NDAC with Dell’s NativeEdge software platform, with the goal of advancing open network architectures within the telecom ecosystem and promoting private 5G use cases among businesses.

The companies aim to expand on their existing partnership and enhance compatibility between products through open network architecture, which allows different vendor products to work together seamlessly. Nishant Batra, Nokia’s chief strategy and technology officer, expressed optimism about addressing future customer needs amid increasing network demands and scaling modern networks to the cloud through continued collaboration with Dell.

Additionally, the partnership involves joint research and development initiatives, including platform and application testing conducted in the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab.
