Airtel and Vi Download Speed Tops, Jio has Best Upload Speed

Summary:
TRAI’s latest Delhi drive test shows that Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) deliver the fastest 4G and 5G download speeds, while Jio leads in upload speeds. Airtel recorded the highest peak 5G download speed at 198.72 Mbps, and Jio topped upload speeds with 21.88 Mbps. This highlights a clear network performance split: Airtel and Vi excel in downloads, Jio excels in uploads.

Airtel & Vi Lead on Download Speeds, Jio Shines in Uploads

In TRAI’s independent network quality test across Delhi and NCR, Airtel and Vodafone Idea emerged as the top performers in download speeds for both 4G and 5G, while Reliance Jio dominated upload speeds. This means that Airtel and Vi users generally enjoy faster streaming and browsing, whereas Jio users experience smoother uploads, video calls, and cloud sharing.

Airtel Shows the Fastest 5G Download Speed in Delhi

Airtel delivered the highest 5G peak download speed of 198.72 Mbps, outperforming both Vi (147.51 Mbps) and Jio (108.41 Mbps). Average speeds also followed a similar trend. Airtel clocked 173.73 Mbps average 5G download, significantly ahead of Jio’s 50.55 Mbps. These numbers point to Airtel’s strong 5G footprint and optimized mid-band spectrum usage in Delhi.

4G Download Rankings: Airtel and Vi on Top Again

Even in the 4G segment, Airtel led with 20.82 Mbps, closely followed by Vi’s 19.6 Mbps. Jio remained slightly behind at 16.19 Mbps. For everyday users, this translates to quicker browsing, smoother OTT streaming, and better app responsiveness on Airtel and Vi networks.

Jio Dominates 4G & 5G Upload Speeds

While Airtel and Vi ruled out downloads, Jio recorded the highest upload speed. A key metric for video calls, content uploads, and online gaming

  • 5G Upload Speed (Jio): 21.88 Mbps
  • 4G Upload Speed (Jio): 8.98 Mbps

Airtel and Vi’s upload numbers remained lower, making Jio the better performer for creators, remote workers, and heavy upload users.
