According to a statement by the Ministry of Communications, Indian telecom companies are targeting 10% of the Global sixth generation (6G) patent within the next three years. The ministry said, “The members of the Stakeholders Advisory Committee (SAC) emphasized the need to align research with ‘India’s needs’ and establish a community of strong standards.”
India has already introduced several measures, such as Bharat 6G Vision Documents and Bharat 6G alliance, as well as structures for patent and intellectual property rights (IPR) support, and commissioning Testbeds. With these efforts, the purpose of the country is to secure 10% of all 6G patents and to contribute to global standards, promoting India’s priorities. According to the ministry, SAC underlined the three-year roadmap to achieve these goals.
The proposals were discussed during the second meeting of the Advisory Committee on Telecom Service Providers (TSPS), which was led by Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The committee insisted that wide deployment of both wireline and intelligent wireless broadband network with reliable connectivity is important for India to become a leader in the Deep Technology region. The statement said, “TSP called for a supporting policy structure to invest 100% broadband coverage in the country. They also discussed various factors and strategies to improve the quality of telecom services.”
Minister Sindia urged the SAC members to underline a significant passage to meet the goals discussed and to define the roles of various stakeholders including the government. “He also urged TSPS to take all necessary measures to ensure high quality telecom services to ensure that citizens get high quality telecom services,” the Ministry said.
