Lowest 5G Plans of Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has officially launched its 5G services, beginning with Mumbai. The rollout is currently limited to this city, but the telco has revealed plans to expand its 5G footprint to other regions in the coming months. For prepaid users, Vi has introduced 5G starting at ₹299, while all postpaid plans now come bundled with 5G access.

Vi’s ₹299 Prepaid 5G Plan: What You Get

The entry-level ₹299 plan offers

  • Unlimited voice calls
  • 100 SMS per day
  • 1GB daily data
  • 28 days validity
  • Access to 5G services

While Vi advertises “unlimited 5G data,” it’s important to note that there’s a monthly cap of 300GB. After hitting this limit, speeds may be reduced. Additionally, the plan no longer includes the Vi Hero Unlimited benefits that were earlier part of the package. There are no OTT subscriptions bundled with this plan either.

Vi has clarified that any prepaid recharge of ₹299 or above will include access to its 5G network. The 5G rollout is being done in phases, with expansion to more cities—including those in Karnataka, Punjab, Bihar, and Delhi—expected in April.

Apart from 5G, Vi is also ramping up its 4G network to serve the large base of users still using 4G devices. With the growing adoption of 5G-ready smartphones in India, Vi is entering the 5G space at a time when market readiness is steadily increasing. Looking ahead, Vodafone Idea’s upcoming launch of 5G-based AirFiber or Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services is also expected to attract attention, especially in areas with limited wired broadband infrastructure.
