BSNL to Showcase Indigenous 4G Stack and 5G Plans

Summary:
On September 27, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the full indigenous 4G stack of BSNL developed by TCS, C-DoT and Tejas Network. “Made in India” technology ensures sovereign telecom security, supports seamless 5G upgrades, and is a significant step in India’s self-reliance in telecom infrastructure. BSNL also confirmed plans to launch 5G services in Mumbai and Delhi by December 2025.

BSNL’s Indigenous 4G Rollout

According to Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, BSNL has deployed 98,000 4G sites which are indigenous stack. The system is software based, cloud-based and designed for smooth transition to 5G, making it a future-ready solution for digital growth of India.

Why This Matters for India

Indigenous Stack in telecom is a landmark achievement. This reduces the dependence on foreign vendors by opening the opportunities to export Indian telecom technology globally. This strengthens national security and ranks India as a potentially global player in the next generation network.

BSNL’s 5G Roadmap

BSNL plans to launch 5G services in Delhi and Mumbai by December 2025, using the same homemade technology. The successful rollout will help India build a strong basis for 6G development and reinforce the country’s ambition to lead in telecom innovation.

India’s Growing Telecom Manufacturing Hub

Scindia emphasized the momentum, noting that global giants such as Cisco, Ericsson, VVDN, Jabil, Flex and Dixon expand production in India. This shift signals India’s increase not only as a telecom hub, but also as a telecommunications equipment making hub.

Conclusion

The launch of BSNL’s indigenous 4G stack and the next 5G rollout is a huge moment in India’s telecom history. With a safe, scalable and export-prepared platform, India will strengthen its digital sovereignty while Future 6G will be founded for innovation.
