BharatNet Phase 3 News BSNL Hands HFCL Work Order in Advance

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has issued an advance work order (AWO) worth ₹2,501.30 crore to HFCL for executing Phase 3 of the BharatNet project in the Punjab telecom circle. HFCL has become the first company to sign an agreement with BSNL as the Project Implementation Agency (PIA) under BharatNet Phase 3 and will begin project execution immediately.

On Thursday morning, HFCL’s shares were trading at ₹89.89, up 1.23% from the previous closing price.  For context, Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL), initially responsible for planning and executing BharatNet, was merged with BSNL to streamline fiber deployment and monetization. With its extensive experience in fiber rollout, BSNL now leads the execution of BharatNet, supporting BBNL in its mission.

The BharatNet initiative aims to provide high-speed broadband connectivity across India, bridging the digital divide. Currently in its third phase, project implementation is being overseen and assigned by BSNL to ensure nationwide broadband expansion.
