BSNL Activates 6,132 4G Towers Across Andhra Pradesh

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has launched 6,132 new 4G sites across Andhra Pradesh to improve internet speed and mobile connectivity. Around 1,325 of these sites were deployed under the Digital Bharat Nidhi-funded 4G Saturation Project, extending coverage to 2,641 previously unserved villages and helping bridge the rural-urban digital gap. The expansion has boosted the state’s 4G user base from 0.5 million to 1.7 million, while daily data usage rose from 184 TB to 410 TB and 4G voice traffic increased fourfold. Additionally, 112 DBN-supported sites have been activated in Chittoor district (also known as the Tirupati Telecom district), with work ongoing at another 57 locations. 

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has brought 6,132 new 4G sites into operation across Andhra Pradesh, aiming to deliver faster internet connectivity and improved mobile services to users, according to the Chief General Manager of the state’s telecom circle.

Out of the total installations, approximately 1,325 sites have been set up under the 4G Saturation Project funded by the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN). These installations extend network coverage to 2,641 remote and previously unserved villages, helping reduce the digital gap between rural and urban regions.

The official noted that the number of 4G users in the state has grown from 0.5 million to 1.7 million. At the same time, mobile data usage has seen a sharp increase, rising from 184 terabytes (TB) to 410 TB each day. The volume of 4G voice traffic has also expanded significantly, climbing fourfold from 150,000 Erlangs to 600,000 Erlangs per day.

In addition, BSNL has activated 112 DBN-supported 4G sites in the undivided Chittoor district—also referred to as the Tirupati Telecom district. Work is currently in progress to set up another 57 sites under the same initiative.
