Batelco and Ericsson Expand 4G & 5G Network Across Bahrain

Batelco, a part of the Beyon Group, has partnered with Ericsson to expand its mobile broadband network, enhancing 5G and 4G capabilities across Bahrain. This expansion involves deploying Ericsson’s latest radio access network (RAN) solutions and upgrading Batelco’s Core network infrastructure to the latest network function virtualization infrastructure (NFVI) release. The modernization also includes capacity expansions to accommodate the increasing demand for both voice and data services.

To improve energy efficiency, Batelco has integrated advanced energy-saving solutions, including dual-mode triple-band radios and Interleaved AIR 3218. These innovations reduce tower space requirements while cutting energy consumption by up to 20%.

In addition, Batelco has upgraded its Ericsson Mediation platform with cloud-native technology, enhancing operational efficiency and enabling support for advanced use cases such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G Standalone networks.

Batelco’s Chief Technology Officer emphasized that the company’s collaboration with Ericsson strengthens network coverage and capacity across the Kingdom, ensuring seamless connectivity to meet Bahrain’s growing digital demands.
