BharatNet Phase 3 Contract Bids Heats Up

In a competitive drive for the BharatNet Phase 3 contracts, 13 domestic telecom equipment companies-including TCL, HFCL, and Pace Digitek has bid for 4 BSNL-led DBOM (Design-Build-Operate-Employment) packages to Rajasthan, Haryana, Assam and Northeast.

BSNL recently made tender for these meddle-mile network packages to upgrade 8,746 gram panchayats (GPs) in Rajasthan and 6,082 in Haryana. Bidders aim to contribute to BharatNet Phase 3, with fiber ring topology, 5G integration and long-term operation and maintenance in ten years.

Of the four packages, all 13 bidders participated eleven for Assam, 12 for Haryana, 8 for Rajasthan and NER-1 areas (Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya). The move shows India’s pressure to promote domestic partnership in rural broadband deployment and reduce dependence on vendors of foreign devices.
