BSNL eSIM Now Available Nationwide

Summary:
Tata Comms has started eSIM services nationwide for BSNL using its GSMA platform. This development allows BSNL users to activate mobile services via QR codes on supported devices. This eliminates the need for physical SIM and modernize connectivity for India’s public carrier.

Tata Communications Powers BSNL’s eSIM Rollout

TCCSPL, the subsidiary of Tata Communications, has deployed eSIM subscription management platform for BSNL to roll eSIM services across India. This platform supports remote provisioning of 2G, 3G and 4G connectivity using secure QR codes, enables compatible smartphones and wearable users to use eSIM and physical SIM simultaneously.

Advantages & Broader Impact

With this step, BSNL joins private competitors like Jio, Airtel and Vi to provide eSIM services on the scale. This gives the user convenience to swap, eliminating delays and strengthens security and flexibility in mobile connectivity. In the future, it can also be expanded in cases of enterprise use such as IoT deployment.
