Centre Committed to Ladakh’s Growth, BharatNet Expansion to Boost Digital Connectivity FM Sitharaman

Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the holistic development of Ladakh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced that the upcoming BharatNet expansion and installation of additional mobile towers will ensure digital connectivity across every panchayat in the Union Territory. 

She expressed satisfaction with the implementation of various government-sponsored schemes in Ladakh and emphasized that, in line with recent Union Budget announcements, special support will be provided to promote layered tourism in the region. This includes assistance for new homestays and the development of related tourism infrastructure. 

“The upcoming BharatNet expansion and additional mobile towers will ensure digital connectivity to every panchayat in the region,” the minister stated. Sitharaman also welcomed the recognition of Pali as a classical language, underscoring the government’s continued efforts to preserve ethnic and indigenous languages.
