Airtel to Launch 2nd-Gen 4K Xstream IPTV Set-Top Box with Enhanced Performance

Airtel recently entered the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) space, allowing users to enjoy live TV channels and OTT content seamlessly through their broadband connection. Alongside this launch, Airtel introduced its first 4K Xstream IPTV set-top box powered by the Amlogic S905Y5 SoC. Now, the company is preparing to roll out a new and improved 4K Xstream IPTV set-top box, featuring the Realtek RTD1325 chipset for even better performance and streaming capabilities. 

2nd-Gen Airtel 4K Xstream IPTV (Sercomm): Specifications 

According to AndroidTV Guide, the upcoming 2nd-generation Airtel 4K Xstream IPTV box—codenamed IPTV2-SM / XstreamIPTV2-SM—will be powered by the quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A55 Realtek RTD1325 chipset, paired with ARM Mali-G57 graphics. 

Key specs include: 

  • 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage 
  • Android TV 14 operating system out-of-the-box 
  • Widevine L1 certification for secure playback of DRM-protected content 
  • Hardware acceleration for AV1, VP9, H.264, and H.265 (HEVC) codecs 
  • Support for Google Cast, Google Assistant, and Dolby Atmos 

In terms of benchmark scores, the device achieved 139 on the single-core test and 491 on the multi-core test, according to a Geekbench listing. 

Comparison with 1st-Gen Airtel 4K Xstream IPTV 

The 1st-gen Airtel IPTV box, manufactured by Vantiva and codenamed UIW4078ATL / IPTV1-VT, features a quad-core 2.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A55 Amlogic S905Y5 SoC with ARM Mali-G31 MP2 graphics. It also comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, runs on Android TV 14, and supports the same set of video codecs. 

While the core specs remain similar, the 2nd-gen device is expected to deliver smoother performance, improved graphics, and greater overall efficiency thanks to its upgraded chipset and optimization features. 

Availability and Plans 

Airtel’s IPTV service is currently available in select cities. Customers interested in subscribing can visit their nearest Airtel Store or check availability at Airtel.in. The 2nd-gen Airtel Xstream IPTV set-top box is currently undergoing testing and is expected to launch soon. 

Airtel’s IPTV connection plans start at ₹599 per month, offering: 

  • Unlimited 30Mbps broadband 
  • Access to over 350 live TV channels 
  • Complimentary subscriptions to platforms like ZEE5, JioCinema (formerly Disney+ Hotstar), and over 22 OTT apps 

With this new device, Airtel aims to deliver a richer, faster, and more reliable digital TV experience, tailored for today’s streaming-first users.
